ABout the Project
Project Memory is a soulslike currently in development set in a dark and twisted fantasy world which is filled with interesting environments and characters, all portrait using N64 style graphics. Players fight their way through the world with a new and improved combat system which allows them to approach fights in their own unique way.
Follow the quests of the NPCs you meet along your journey, defeat bosses standing in your way and decide over the fate of the world.
Your actions have consequences.
My Contribution
For Project Memory my main role is coding and designing the games core gameplay and systems. This includes the games extensive combat and stat-system as well as the handling of all technical aspects of the game such as loading and saving, settings and UI.
In addition to my work as a coder and designer, I also manage the project in combination with the games vision keeper ensuring that the project reaches the set goals and deadlines.
Combat
The players combat is handled using custom scripts which allow for quick customization during development. This includes basic functionality like attack and dodging as well as the game changing parry-system.
Camera
The game features a camera system which combines unity’s cinemachine plugin with our own custom code. It allows you to freely move the camera as well as lock on to targets to assist you during combat.
ENEMIES
Enemies are handled using a custom state machine which determines enemy behavior such as patrolling and attacking. In addition to that all enemy values are easily accessible allowing for an easier workflow when balancing enemy related aspects such as damage, health, value and much more.
SYSTEMS
A goal for the project is securely storing and loading the players save files preventing intentional and unintentional tampering to ensure that the game is played in it’s intended form. In addition to that the game will be optimized to reduce and remove unnecessary loading screens providing the player with smooth gameplay experience.
Not possible without our team
Project Memory would not be possible without the amazing people I work with who provide their incredible insight and expertise to help the game become a reality
